Advisor Bio

Dan Hewitt a Vice President at the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the trade association that represents U.S. computer and video game publishers. Since he began at the ESA in 2004, he has been responsible for developing and executing communications strategies that educate key audiences about the industry, its goals, and its consumers.

At the ESA, Mr. Hewitt serves as an on-the-record spokesman in top-tier print and electronic media. He is also responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies neutralizing crises and critics that could undermine the industry’s self-regulatory successes, scientifically-based research, and community relations achievements.

His responsibilities also include directing and overseeing media and community relations outreach for the ESA’s charitable foundation. The ESA Foundation holds monthly events requiring messaging and logistical coordination involving elected officials—including Governors and Attorneys General—in community launch events and for public service announcements.

Prior to joining the ESA, Mr. Hewitt was with the global communications firm Burson-Marsteller, During his tenure, he executed and assisted in a variety of public relations and public affairs programs for organizations such as the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the National Cervical Cancer Campaign, and other corporate clients.

Mr. Hewitt earned his BA in Politics from The Catholic University of America and resides in Washington, DC.
